I took Cate to her first (real) story time today at Barnes and Nobel by our house and it was AWESOME ! The reason I say real is because I took her a couple times when she was a newborn, when we could actually make it out of the house, and only one of those few times I think she was actually awake for it!;) We used to journey over to B&N in Round Rock to meet our friends and their sweet girls, but once Cate actually got on a napping schedule, the 10am time didn't work for us anymore;( naps are everything, right ?!?;) I never thought to check the B&N by our Casa to see when their story time is (bad mommy), I just assumed it was at the same time, well, it isn't!!! It's at 11am on Wednesday, AND that works out perfectly with morning nap time! So today we went, and it was WAY better than the RR one I must say. The sweet energetic elderly man named George put on quite the show! Usually, at RR they would read 3 stories, then do a craft, or color something, (and sometimes there was a lady that would read, and if kids started talking she would tell them to be quiet?!?, really?!? You are reading to mostly toddlers lady!) Anyways, like I said, George put on quiet the show, and Cate and I were very impressed!
Here she is, checking kids running around before it started...
And making new friends...
I'm ready for the show mama!!
Let the show begin with the opening act...
George also played his ukaleily and had everyone singing, clapping, dancing and such in-between stories...
She loved listening to him!
Then it was craft time and we colored a monkey for daddy;)
And crinkled and mouthed the paper too;)
Cate had such a fun time! In the video she may have had a somewhat scared look on her face, but she was still getting her bearings, and there were about 25 other kids that you can't see, singing, clapping and dancing around. She really loves seeing and being around other kids, so I am SO glad this story time works out with our schedule! Best part #1: it's close to the house, 5 min away! Best part #2: it's FREE!!;) Cate and I are already looking forward to next week! George is a hoot, seriously. great. free. entertainment!
