San Antonio Weekend

This past weekend we went to San Antonio for a little get away. We had so much fun and it felt like we were gone way longer than a couple of days, probably because we packed in so much fun in so little time. I have been to SA a number of times, but never to do the "fun" stuff, and I heard from some that the Riverwalk isn't all its cracked up to be, etc.. but let me just say, I thought it was beautiful and really enjoyed doing the touristy sight seeing thing=) Thanks to our iphones, we were able to get where we needed to go and eat where we wanted to eat=)
We arrived Thursday night and ate at La Fogoata, very yummy, and felt like we were in Mexico. The atmosphere was beautiful, great music, and apparently the BEST margaritas, although I couldn't indulge in one with Matt, but he said that was probably the best one he had ever had=( Soon enough=)

We stayed here, a sweet little B&B in the historic, the 1908 Ayers Inn. Very, very cute Inn, and
the breakfast was fabulous!!

This was the separate little guest house we stayed in!

Some views from inside the main house..

Friday morning, we decided to go to the ZOO!! It was so fun, way bigger than I thought, and made me even more excited to go in another year or two when baby K can name all the animals and see them! That will be SOOO fun! Here are a few pics, but I will post more on FB=) We/Matt took a lot of pics, my picture taking privilege was revoked after taking the first pics at the zoo of the bears, where I wasn't even getting the bears in the pics, because I was so fascinated by them, needless to say, I think Matt will be the family picture taker=)
This little bundle of joy made the trip to the zoo TOTALLY worth it! SO cute!

Look how little baby monkey is...

Baby K and I checking out the crocs

After eating lunch at La Fonda, which was literally around the corner from the B&B, we went on a Riverboat tour...

Enjoying the ride, although, I thought we went a little fast, there was hardly enough time to keep up with what the tour guide was saying and pointing out=

Scared out of my mind... can you see why?!?!?! That's all I'm going to say...

Me by the curled palm tree

This wisteria was gorgeous and smelled oh so yummy!

We stopped by this theater and caught a mexican dancer and mariachi show.
This lil guy was so cute dancing with the ladies=)

The live band

This was my favorite group. This was the finale, and they had the most colorful dresses and it was a very lively ending!

Saturday we went and met Carl, a guy Matt works with, and his group of friends that have an annual camping/fishing/fish fry trip at a place called Rebecca Creek Park, outside San Antonio. It was so serene and what a beautiful weekend it was for them!

All of the groups tents..

Pretty yellow flowers all around the site

This small waterfall was perfect!

This was the most quiet and serene setting I have seen in a long time. Hope to go back very soon! We really enjoyed our weekend away and I highly recommend our itinerary if you are looking for a fun time close to home!

24/25 week update

And here we are...

of course the pink tank shot=) There she is!
Another week down! I don't know where the time is going! Matt and I had a fabulous time in San Antonio this past weekend. I had SEVERAL complete strangers ask me in some way, shape, or form if I was pregnant, so I must be showing finally;) And for their sake, good thing I do have something growing in my belly! But it's funny because some friends say I look way more pregnant in person than in the pics, and I saw someone the other day who I haven't seen in maybe a month, and when I told her I was pregnant, she asked, "6 months, or 6 weeks!?!?!" So who knows. But anyways, we went to the zoo, riverwalk, saw mexican dancers in the really pretty dresses, then went to a friends camping extravaganza at this beautiful area park called Rebecca Creek, but I'll post more on that later. For now, here is the 24 week update on week 25!
Last Thursday we went for our 24 week checkup and I had the glucose test done. The liquid I had to drink was not bad at all!! I would totally drink it again if need be, so if you have a choice, go with the lemon lime flavor;) It tasted like the off brand of Sprite. So that definately made things easier. We checked in, got my finger pricked (I would much rather get the blood drawn from my veins), and then went to see the Dr. I PASSED the glucose, no problem, but my iron level was lower than they like, which explains why I was the most tired I had been in my life last weekend and early last week. I told them that I had been sick for the past 3 weeks and that I wasn't eating as much or as good as I normally do, but had finally gotten my appitite back two days prior and should be good to go. The nurse just told me to make sure I am getting my protein and green veggies. I normally am just fine with that, but was craving it while sick. Other than that, all was well. We got to listen to our little girl's heartbeat, which was at 140 and going strong. I told Matt too bad the nurse remembered to take that little heart rate monitor back out with her otherwise I'm pretty sure it would have easily fallen into my purse on the way out;) My belly measured an inch smaller than average, but the nurse said no worries there. We then chatted with Dr. C for a little bit and were then on our way. We go back in 4 more weeks, which will be the beginning of the 3RD TRIMESTER!!! Then we start going every other week!!! CRAZY!

24 weeks... 6 MONTHS already?!?!

WHERE is the time going? I can't believe I am 24 weeks along already. I guess being in my own sickly world the past 3 weeks accounted for some lost time:( but needless to say, feeling much much better finally. This past Tuesday was the best day in the past 3 weeks following bronchitis, a severe, and I mean SEVERE case of sinusitis, a zpack, and 7 days down of more antibiotics. 3 to go. I feel like I needed one of those daily pill taker separators, since my morning pill routine consists of 2 antibiotics, a mucinex, prenatal, and my two calcium supplements, and at the same time thinking. Can all of these pills be safe? After going to my family Dr. last week because I still wasn't feeling well, she said sinusitis, and then said I probably just needed a longer dose of antibiotics to really get rid of whatever nasty virus was still lingering along...??? Well why didn't she just give me that when I was there 2 co-pays earlier??? Uhhhhgg, And little did I know the evening and day after going to see her, (which I couldn't go the day I actually called to get in because she was working her "own hours" because of spring break, Oh the life of a Dr.) My sinuses were going to get a million times worse!!! I have never been more miserable in my life. My head was pounding so much and so hard that my face was numb. I've had sinus infections before, been super sick of many things before, but I would have to say this was the worst. And the thing is, I am never sick!!! It has to be because I have a "parasite" as my dr. called her, sucking the life out of me as she is growing away in there. All in the name of children:) But anyways, SO glad to be getting back to normal and super excited about this weekend! We were suppose to go to San Antonio last weekend for a few days for a little get-away, and I had called that Tuesday to see if I could reschedule for this weekend and was able to:) So we leave today after our dr. appt! Our plans are still up in the air, the weather is suppose to be gorgeous, so we will just play by ear and do whatever we feel like:) Then Saturday we are coming back thru the Wimberley area and meeting up with a group of people Matt works with who are having their annual spring camping fish fry. YUM, Talk about having some good eats this weekend, hopefully I won't gain my allotted allowance for the rest of the pregnancy in 4 days...:)

One bit of randomness, recently I went to get a lamp for the nursery and found this cute little mosaic lamp for my bar area in the kitchen. I had to buy it because it was exactly what I had been looking for for quite a while now. I got home and Matt saw it, (some things he notices new, others he never notices, and some things just take him a while) and he commented something like, "Hrm, that's new," I excitedly said, "YES," it's exactly what I have been looking for for MONTHS, AND it was at a great price!!!" He then so cutely asked, "Hrm, so is this all part of the "nesting" phase??? " I just laughed, it was so cute and funny at the same time. So does that mean that I have an excuse for purchases now?!?!? Oh YES, I think so!

2 weeks later, still not better

This, unfortunately, describes our day today.
Well two weeks later and one zpack down, I still don't feel very well, well not well at all actually. When I went to the Dr. two weeks ago, she said it was bronchitis, gave me a zpack, and sent me on my way. After I finished the zpack, I started feeling a little better, some days more than others, but never totally got rid of the the cough, or the drainage. Well, after coming back from Houston this weekend, the horrible cough returned, and just started feeling worse over the past few days. Long story short, called the dr. yesterday, she is only working half days/weird hours this week b/c of spring break, LOVELY, so I went in today. She said now I have a bad sinus infection, and apparently, it's very common to happen after you have a viral infection that doesn't completely go away. She also said I may just need a longer dose of meds to fully kick this crud. Imagine that. Lucky ME=) SO now I am on a 10 day amoxicillin and hopefully that will kick it. And don't worry, it doesn't seem to bother baby K too much, she is still her normal self, moving and kicking and punching around in there. I think it's bothering me more, being that I can't even lay down comfortably, without getting stuffy, thus I decided to write an update while working on addresses. I am just so bummed because I just want to feel better and enjoy this weather. I even had to reschedule our weekend trip to San Antonio to next weekend, since we were suppose to leave tomorrow. Oh well, hopefully next weekend the weather will be nice=) Hope to feel better soon! and hope you all are enjoying this beautiful weather, SXSW, Spring Break, or whatever it may be!

Springing forward?!?!?! Literally!

Here I am at 23 weeks! Let's just say my my belly did some serious "springing forward" this past week. I went to Houston for a few days to visit my best friend Ashley from our happy college days at UT. We had so much fun! It was a full itinerary beginning with a trip to the Woodlands to see her friend Sara and her new baby, Charlotte Michelle Harding, who is absolutely precious. I can't believe that will be me in a hospital room in t-17ish weeks! AHHH. My number of weeks along is getting larger, and the number of weeks to go is getting smaller!!! We then went for mani/pedis, rodeo festivities to see Brad Paisley, of course some shopping, dinner and a movie! I kept thinking my belly was growing by the minute while in Houston, and even Ash thought it had grown in the three days I was there! I told her I had to leave, with baby K growing at that rate, I was likely to have an 8 month bump before I knew it!

And here's the tank belly shot! Switched it to PINK since we are officially all things pink now=) Another way we can tell baby K is growing...Matt came home one day this past week and I gave him a hug, and literally the belly just BOUNCED right off!!! We both looked at each other and just laughed=)

I finally caved!!!

Today I headed over to the Round Rock outlets with my friend Catherine and her precious 11 week old son baby Wyatt. She has been wanting to do some shopping over there, and today it worked out that we could go and the weather was B-E-A-Utiful!!! Absolutely GORGEOUS!!! We went mainly looking for clothes for us and for Wyatt, and it finally happened, I caved! They have a Carter's outlet and it is FABULOUS! I bought TWO girly clothing items, well, 6+ if you interchange the outfits!! And Matt can't say anything about one of them because if you look closely, the onesie says "daddy makes me smile" How sweet is that? I have been holding off because we have been getting gifts from the grandma's and others, and I know there's more to come before July, but I couldn't resist. I must admit I was a bit overwhelmed in the stores at all the cute girly stuff! Most all my girlfriends have had boys, so I have just shopped for boys. I'm sure it will get easier=)

I have seen these at Kohls and just LOVE them, I bought some boy ones for some of my friends. You get 5 onesies and 2 pair of pants to match, and of course the girl pants have ruffles!!!

And this was one of many dresses I liked there, I got 2 coupons with my purchase, so I will definitely be going back soon! LOVE the carter's outlet!!! My new FAV!

Upside of Down Kickball Tourney 2010

On March 6th, the 2nd annual Upside of Down Kickball tournament was held. The event was a huge success and raised over $7,000!!! This year more individuals with down syndrome will have the opportunity to go to summer camp! This year Matt and I were on team B the Funk, which won second place! I didn't play due to being prego and getting over bronchitis=( but I helped cheer them on! Check out great pics here and check out Upside of Down for more info!
