San Antonio Zoo

First Sea World, then the Zoo. I think we had our fill of animals for a while.
Mr. Bear was sleeping, someone threw an acorn at him, and he woke up...
 lots of pointing...

not so sure about the view of the hippos...
she's telling the alligator/croc to "chomp chomp"
 She liked seeing the elephants...
 and riding them...

she did lots and lots of looking

and looking

and of course stopped to have a snack=)
then rode "izzy" (lizards)
and rode the train! We caught her with her eyes closed on the train...
so it was time to head out after that! She was one tired girl!
All in all it was a very successful weekend trip to a fun city.

And just a little fyi...With a toddler in tow, I suggested we stay in a townhouse I found on HomeAway. It was definitely the way to go! The place was perfect, plenty of room for Cate to run and play. She had so much fun playing chase and running around the place, she probably could have just made a weekend of doing that! The house was way more spacious that we expected and we could have definitely stayed longer than a couple nights there. Highly recommend it, and way better than staying in a one room hotel! The house was very close to the zoo and about a 20 min drive to Sea World, had an IHOP three miles away, and there was a very good mexican restaurant with seriously the best mariachi band I have ever heard just up the block. We ate there one night and ordered food in the next, so we could just relax in our spacious abode and watch the Texas game=) Now if only Texas would have shown up this past weekend...=/

Trip to San Antonio - Sea World

Last weekend we journeyed down south 35 and spent it in San Antonio with Matt's family, and took Cate to Sea World and the Zoo. We all had a great time and Cate was just mesmerized at Sea World. She would just look and stare in amazement at the animals, and at the shows. If you ask her about Sea World, she will say "Shamu made BIG splash, people got wet!! Oh NOOOO...they need towel, dry off!!! So cute!

See...just staring in amazement...

lots of cute curls from the humidity...

the best seat in the house...
Oh Cate...always snacking...can you see bk2? (baby k 2?)
HI Shamu!

We made it through the day until 4pm with no nap and no meltdowns, but by then it was time to go! Cate was just so beyond tired she couldn't make up her mind what animal she wanted from the gift shop, so she ended up getting a penguin AND Shamu, thank you Jojo and Grandpa...=)

A breath of fresh air...

A couple of weekends ago, we headed out to a ranch in the hill country, with seven couples, no kids, lots of good food, good conversation, relaxation, and even a girls trip to Fredericksburg!
Such a breath of fresh air...

Mason and I ready to go ride the land in the jeep...

Ginger and I, with the gobbler she shot on the hood. Yes, she shot it!

Ginger running to shoot her turkey...
Matt hoping to find turkeys...
Girls trip to Fredericksburg...
And we even threw a "hoe down" themed surprise birthday party for Amanda...

Such a fun time...
Can't wait until next year!
